Surely the Jaguar XJ13 must be among the most beautiful race cars to have never seen a competitive lap. Conceived and built in the 60’s and powered by a 5 litre engine, had it ever come to fruition in time, the XJ13 would have competed with the likes of the Ford GT40s and Ferrari P4s. Early tests of the Jaguar were very promising but the program soon became bogged down following the merger with BMC. The final dagger in the XJ13 program came when the car was heavily damaged in a crash and subsequently relegated to storage where it was eventually found, purchased and rebuilt using many of the original parts as well as jigs. The rebuilt Savage Beauty is currently on display at the British Heritage Museum.
