The Morgan Plus 4 was already an outstanding sports car but the addition of the Rover 3.5 litre V8 through the magic of Maurice Owen turned it into the fastest accelerating production car in the UK. Over it’s original production run—from 1968 to 2004—the Plus 8 saw the engine displacement grow from the the original 3.5 litres to a prodigious 4.6 litres and the gearbox go from a 4-speed to a 5-speed along with increases to to width of the car with corresponding alterations that lowered it as well. To this day the early Plus 8s remain very desirable for the pure sports car appeal and lasting good looks.
