B-Paddock LRP 2015

A little experimentation now and again is a good thing. This illustration is based on some photographs I took of a sports racer that was in the B-paddock at Lime Rock Park somewhere around 2015 and before the paddock was completely paved as it is today. I must have shot 40 or 50 cars that weekend but the body reflecting the sky, clouds, and surroundings on this little number really stood out to me. I…

The One True Champion

“Red”—Ferrari 250 GTO will debut in all of its 72″ x 36” dye-sublimated glory at the Art House Collective show during Arizona Car Week, January 20-25 at The Warehouse. Along with the Shelby Daytona Cobra, the GTO may well be one of the most coveted and recognizable GT cars to ever win the 24 Heures du LeMans. Not sure why it took me so long to get around to drawing it but couldn’t be happier…

Rosso!

One Christmas, many years ago, my brother and I were gifted a Strombecker 1/32nd scale slot car track set. It wasn’t much by today’s standards but, back then, it provided hours of enjoyment…and competition. The set came with two cars—a blue Jaguar D-Type and a red Ferrari 250TR. Maybe it was the track, the car, or the driver but the Ferrari always seemed the faster of the two cars and was frequently the source of…

Austin-Healey 100S 70th Anniversary

The Austin-Healey 100S was and remains one of the most important cars in the development of Brisith sports cars. Built primarily for racing, the aluminum bodied 100S made 132BHP from it’s Weslake head equipped 4-cylinder engine and featured, 4-wheel disc brakes, the first production to do so. To save weight, no overdrive was fitted and the original folding windscreen was replaced with a fixed mounted plastic version. In all, only 50 cars were built, mostly…

Frist Generation Thunderbird Art

“Baby” ‘Bird artwork has been on my draw list ofr quite a while and I’m glad I finally got around to drawing it. In high school, a neighbor of mine owned a coral colored example complete with continental kit. I always thought it was a cool looking ride. While the cult movie American Pie may have built household awareness for the first generation Thunderbird, the “baby ‘Birds” were already well known throughout the collector car…

2025 Amelia Lookback

I’m well overdo to get a recap of the 2025 Amelia out to folks but thanks to Paul Kaperonis from Hagerty Insurance I’m able to share photos of a good many of the simply spectacular cars that were there. This is only a small sampling of the many photos Paul took at the 30th Amelia Concours but should give you a good idea of the quality and variety of the cars on hand. If…

Last Rodeo

All good things must come to and end and, after more than a dozen years on the road, 2025 will mark my last regular tour. It’s been a blast. So many new friends, so many cool cars, I don’t think I would change a thing about the experience (well maybe the rain and/or heat at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix), but things are catching up to me. My 75th birthday is coming in April…

Alfa Romeo Spider Art

It’s taken forever and some push from my friend John Saccameno at Sport Specialty but I finally dove into drawing Alfas, starting with an early Gulietta. I haven’t drawn many Italian cars but this early post-war Alfa reminded a lot of post-war British cars where some of the parts selection seemed to vary considerably from year to year, I assume based on scarcity or availability. With the fist one already at the printer, I’m on…

Lime Rock Post-Event Sale

With the 42nd annual Lime Rock Historic Festival in my rear view mirror and the end of my traveling season, it’s time to clear out this year’s show art to make room in the studio and start planning for next season’s works. In addition to several framed pieces, I also have a number of dye-sublimated fabric prints including the Jaguar XJ13, Porsche 356 Anniversary and an 8′ x 6′ lightbox version of my Corvette…
