Porsche—Excellence Was Expected

While the work was, at times, very intense, it was also a tremendous opportunity for me to gain more insight, first hand, on the development of both Porsche production and racing models from the 1948…

Porsche Type 547 “Furhman” Engine

Designed by Ernst Furhman for the 550 model as well as a performance option for the 356 models, Furhman’s complex design began with the basic flat four and then added dual overhead cams driven by beveled gears, coupled with dual distributors and two spark plugs per cylinder.
