Abingdon found success building and selling its lightweight sporting cars with the MG TC, TD, TF, and MGA right through the MGB, MGC, and various incarnations of the Midget models up until 1980, when importation into the United Stated was suspended. While it’s true that, by then, compliance with the federal emissions standards had robbed them of a good deal of their performance, nonetheless the MG remained a very popular car.

I’ve owned a few MGBs in my time and have always found them fun to drive and as cheap to keep as they were easy to work on. In truth, there are two of them out in the garage right now. One has been built solely as a race car. The other is a sweet 1968 European spec model I found abandoned in a garage that’s being restored as a daily driver. I’ve even considered “winterizing” it to enable some selective Vermont winter driving, but first I need to finish the reassembly and get it back on the road. Life is just better when you drive and MG!

MG’s attempt to bridge the gap between the venerable MG TD and upcoming MGA, my TF illustration comes complete with 48-spoke wire wheels (or “steelies” if you prefer), Stokes air cleaners, and new “chrome” highlights. If you prefer, you can delete the wind wings, fender mirror, and driving/fog lamp. This illustration combines more of the classic cutaway style of ghosting in the exterior panels (and some of the other components as well) with my signature, cross section technique. This development of style not only highlights the mechanical components but helps maintain the exterior shapes that are so much a part of the marque, giving the illustration a more finished appearance as well as ties to the heritage of classic cutaways.

  • 22″ x 16″ size— limited edition unframed, limited edition framed
  • 30″ x 20″ size—limited edition unframed
  • brushed aluminum prints sized 47″ x 23″ by special order only
  • dye-sublimated large-scale backlit or unlit prints sized 80″ x 38″ or 96″ x 47″ by special order only

Options—Prints may be ordered in any of the factory exterior and interior trim colors, with any of the factory available engine and gearbox packages as well as any available factory options. Custom options will be considered upon request.
